Tenuta San Giorgio is a winery in the Swiss canton of Ticino. Located above the Bay of Agno on Lake Lugano, manual work and specialist knowledge are combined with commitment and passion. Winemaker Mike Rudolph and his team have committed themselves to working close to nature in the vineyard and minimalist vinification in order to create wines that mirror their origin in the taste. The result is a small amount of authentic wines of the highest quality that bear the unique signature of the Tenuta.

In 2002 the first part of today's cellar was built, in which the first own wine was made. The Tenuta has grown steadily since then, so that the cellar had to be expanded in 2011. Thanks to some newly planted parcels, around 35,000 bottles of wine are currently being produced annually, which are increasingly inspiring wine lovers beyond the borders of Switzerland.

History

In 1940 Emma Rudolph-Schwarzenbach from Zurich acquired a property in the heart of Cassina d'Agno, not far from Lugano. It comprised four hectares of land, a stable and a residential building. Emma's daughter Magdalena Hutton-Rudolph had a garden laid out in which, in addition to flowers, fruit trees, berries, vegetables and lettuce, grapes also grew.

Magdalena later handed the property over to her nephew Urs Rudolph, who began to plant vines. The extraordinary quality of the wine made from these vines encouraged Urs' youngest son Mike Rudolph to give up his job as a consultant and move to Ticino to produce his own wine. For him, running the winery is a dream come true, in which he is always supported by his team. Above all, Rea Fellmann, who has been with the company since 2014, contributes her knowledge of all aspects of viticulture and cellar work and plays a key role in every process in the winery.
