“Viticulture only has a successful future if it is done sustainably. We see it as our obligation to manage our young winery in a holistic way from an ecological, social and economic point of view. In doing so, we would like to make an active contribution to the future of our winery, the social security of our employees and the protection of the environment. In the Fair and Green e. V. we see a partner who effectively supports us in our endeavors. ”- Axel Bauer
Vineyard Axel Bauer
Around Bühl, the Axel Bauer winery is dedicated to the windy and exposed steep slopes that significantly shape the cultural landscape of the region. The vines, some of which are over 40 years old, are characterized by low yields and dense plantings and are partially planted with original French Pinot clones. The winemaking tradition of the Bauer family goes back many years and was steered in a new direction when Axel Bauer took over the business in 2012. In 2019 Torsten Klein joined the company as cellar master and since then has stood for innovative and passionate viticulture together with Axel Bauer.

The focus of the winery is on the production of wines of the highest quality, in which the origin plays an important role. The soils of the winery are diverse and the selection of grape varieties is adapted to the respective terroir in order to maximize the potential of the locations. Timeless classics are created as well as new trends are set, especially in the red wine sector. For example, Grenache, Malbec and Syrah are used, based on the style of the great French cuvées.
